Our Story

We met at Southwest Baptist University in 2019 and became close friends while going through the nursing program there. After going on a mission trip to Uganda in 2021, we decided to start dating and dedicated our relationship and future together to the Lord. At the end of that summer, Jared did not feel a peace about fulfilling some requirements the school had for him to continue in his education. We both prayed hard and the weekend before classes started, he strongly believed the Lord was asking him to withdraw from classes so he could move overseas to Uganda and begin our mission sooner than we expected. The next week through a word from the Lord this was confirmed and we started making plans to move forward in obedience. We got married on February 20, 2022, and continued to seek the Lord's guidance in our marriage and future plans. We have visited The Gem Foundation located just outside Kampala, Uganda twice now, and we believe the Lord has asked us to intern there for 18 months. We both have medical knowledge and experience, and we will be involved in helping Gem set up their medical clinic. Amelia will spend time working in a government health facility to transfer her nursing license, as well as be available for the medical needs of the children that call The Gem Foundation Home.
